Effective February 16, 2008, the Fairview Township Water Authority District 1 will adjust the water rates for all customers up 3.7%. The adjusted rate will appear on the billing for the quarter ending May 15, 2008. The quarterly residential customers' water charge, on average, will adjust up from $122.00 to $126.51 or $4.51 per quarter. The annual residential customers' water charge, on average, will adjust up from $488.00 to 506.04, or $18.04 per year. The actual adjustment to each customer may vary depending on the amount of water used. Upon request, the Water Authority will inform any customer of the estimated effect of the rate adjustment upon their water bill. Copies of the new rate schedule will be available at the Water Authority office at 7485 McCray Road, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This rate adjustment is necessary because of a rate adjustment passed onto the Water Authority through the City of Erie, Erie Water Works and Millcreek Township Water Authority. In addition, the Water Authority pays for shared costs for any improvements to the shared Joint Water Facilities with the Millcreek Township Water Authority, as well as the water distribution costs paid to Millcreek associated with the operation of the Millcreek water system supplying water to Fairview. These costs, along with other increasing operating costs, such as electric power costs to operate the water system, cannot be absorbed without the need for placing into effect this rate adjustment to the water bill. The Fairview Township Water Authority strives for a continuous, uninterrupted supply of quality water at a reasonable cost for our customers, which promotes public health and safety while promoting system stability and future growth.
