Sewer:

The Sewer Authority has approved the Route 20 sewer crossing project in the Village, which initially will serve only the sanitary sewer needs of Titan Tool Company and the Subway Shop.

The cost of completing the project will be on a share basis. The Authority will pay the cost of a road bore to construct an 8-inch sewer line across Route 20 from the existing south side sewer extending to the north side at the Titan Tool Company property. The Authority's cost share is estimated to be $35,000. Titan Tool Company and the Subway Shop will pay the cost of constructing a manhole at the end of the road bore and also the cost of constructing an 8-inch sewer line across the front of their properties. Their cost shares are estimated to be $20,000 and $19,500, respectively.

The project is in the design phase and scheduled for construction and completion during the summer of 2007.

The Authority is also looking into the feasibility of expanding the project to properties located west and east of two businesses, if the property owners are interested and willing to make the necessary financial commitment to pay for the project.

Water:

The Water Authority has completed the land purchase transaction to acquire 3.5 acres of land located just east of the existing well field that serves the Village area, the Business Park, and Brandy Run Subdivision. The land will be used to install a new production well that will provide additional water to the community now and into the future.

The community is currently being served with water provided by 5 existing production wells. The Authority is working with the PA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and Erie County Health Department in preparing for the new well completion. The new well will also serve a new residential development consisting of 128 homes to be developed between Route 98 and Franklin Avenue just south of the Authority's well field. The development will be known as the Fairview Evergreen Subdivision and will be built in phases beginning the summer of 2007.

The Authority's purchase price for the land was $60,000. The estimated cost of the new well is $181,000, which is partially financed through a local bank loan.

The Water Authority would like to publicly thank the Fazekas family for their demonstration of community spirit, cooperation, and the courtesies extended to the Authority and residents of Fairview by making the needed land acquisition possible.
